To say the least, Squirreltail is a pretty little she-cat. She's not the beauty queen of WindClan but she sure isn't to be passed up. As finely boned as a bird, Squirreltail is light on her feet because there's not much weight to carry. Once you get past her feathery fur, she's actually quite thin. She carries her weight on her toes so that can almost seems to dance out of the way of attacks and she can run like the wind because she keeps her weight carefully balanced. Squirreltail has a nicely defined face, feather-soft fur and curious light green eyes. Her pelt is soft and warm so that winters aren't so bad for her but summers can be annoying when it gets excessively hot. Her pelt is calico patterned with blotches of black and ginger on a canvas of snowy white. There are very light tabby stripes patterning the ginger of her pelt. Her belly, chest, the lower part of her face and her legs are all snowy white. The black and ginger war over Squirreltail's back, tail, sides and the upper portion of her head. During leaf-fall, Squirreltail becomes a master of hiding since the orange and black in her fur break up her form enough to hide her among richer autumn colors. Squirreltail is a wonderful climber because she has fantastic balance which is unusual for a WindClan cat since there aren't many trees in the territory. Where the trees are however, is where you're likely to find Squirreltail although her speed is definitely up to snuff with WindClan standards, she just also has that extra paw up in climbing.[/classy]
[classy=title]personality[/classy][classy=text]as an apprentice, there were a lot of worried glances about Squirreltail. She's a bit of a wandering soul, always looking toward the horizon and wondering what else is out there. Often she'd sneak across borders and once or twice get caught. A lot of elders that knew her from kithood claimed she'd run off with some loner or other clan cat and birth half clan rats to plague them all. Squirreltail doesn't heed these rumors much but she does have a natural curiosity that spurs her to make odd friends in odd places. Squirreltail is a generally playful, enthusiastic she-cat that's up for any adventure or mischief making even as a warrior. Her sister often chides her, saying she should grow up and act more like a responsible warrior but right now Squirreltail just isn't interested. She just wants to enjoy the life she has while she has it. Squirreltail wants to run and climb and explore, not tromp around the territory in endless patrols. She often does her best to do things differently than her clanmates which makes them all question her sanity sometimes but it doesn't bother Squirreltail any. She likes holding her own when it's for a good cause and can be as stubborn as a mule on some things.
To say the least, this young she-warrior is energetic. She can't stand being still or inactive, it just doesn't work for her. Sitting through lengthy Gatherings or even clan meetings is nearly torture. Squirreltail prefers to be running and climbing and exploring, or at the very least patrolling for enemies. Always an enthusiastic sparring partner, Squirreltail often works with mentors and apprentices since she doesn't have one of her own to train. She finds it great fun to help teach although she's not sure she'll have patience or knowledge enough for a little one of her own. Still, she likes helping out so she does whenever possible. It keeps her busy and at the end of the day wears her out long enough to actually rest. When she doesn't wear herself out, Squirreltail is prone to very active dreaming and has more than once kicked a clanmate or taken a swipe at her sister while dreaming.
A sore subject for Squirreltail is when she listens to the toms talking about her beautiful sister. She hates it. Nothing will put her in a dark mood faster. She'll hiss and growl and snarl and stalk off, the whole nine yards. She loves her sister and leaps to her defense whenever necessary but Squirreltail hates become compared to her or hear others doting on her sister. Squirreltail knows she's not ugly, knows she's got her own sort of beauty but it feels like nobody sees it because everyone sees her sister. Everyone sees the social, beautiful, loyal, sweet she-cat while Squirreltail stands back and watches. She's not shy, but Squirreltail knows that once someone has been starstruck by her sister, they seldom come out of it because her sister is all charm and class and gentility while still managing to be one of the fastest cats in the clan. Still, when it comes down to it Squirreltail loves her sister even if it's hard to sometimes.[/classy]
[classy=title]history[/classy][classy=text]Born into a traditional WindClan family, Squirrelkit had one sibling, her sister Redkit was sleek and brilliant ginger like their father. The trio of kits was born to Marshflower and Flamepelt. They had a relatively normal kithood, spending their days playing in the sun and their nights trying to sneak out and make trouble. Squirrelkit early on discovered that she could think best in a high up place and would often climb trees when her other siblings thought it silly to do so because they were WindClan kits and WindClan territory had few trees. Still, Squirrelkit did as she wished and often got on the nerves of her siblings because her insistence on standing out just enough to be different. Squirrelkit hungered for her own identity, instead of feeling caged in by her siblings. When they became apprentices, Squirrelpaw felt this even more acutely as Redpaw developed her own skills.
Out of the entire clan, Redpaw was the only one that could really contest Squirelpaw when it came to speed, something that irks her to no end. They're constantly going back and forth between who's the fastest. It didn't hurt that Redpaw turned every head in the clan because she was a natural beauty. Long and tall, slender as a willow branch with fine ginger tabby fur and vibrant green eyes, Redpaw turned heads left and right. She could be thrown in a pile of mud, something Squirrelpaw did often, and still look as pretty as a picture. Redpaw had all the graces and good looks of a queen while Squirrelpaw always felt more like a tomboy. She didn't mind getting dirty and playing rough, she often looked hazarded and windswept after running through the moors while Redpaw never had a hair out of place. Though she won't acknowledge it, this is often why Squirrelpaw won't say she's related to Redpaw, she's jealous of the attention her sister attracts so easily. Still, Squirrelpaw managed to do just fine through her apprenticeship under the watchful eye of Willowstripe, a lovely brown tabby that had many successful warriors as former apprentices. Squirrelpaw was only recently named a warrior after a serious bout of greencough set back her training though her sister became a warrior by fourteen moons. Though she nearly died of the greencough, Squirreltail can't help but feel a little bitter toward her sister.
